Im sooooooo happy today!
Really. Im on cloud nine.
Yesterday, we had our first advocacy session on trial advocacy.
I landed the role of the prosecutor where I examined in chief my witness and also played the role as a witness. (I really dislike being a witness)
Anyway, my tutor said that it was very well done, especially at the end, he said it was excellent! so happy! Although, my advocacy skills is still lacking. It's so embarrassing that English is my first language (Maybe Im better off saying Manglish instead of English?) and I still hesitate at times.
And today, i am super duper happy!
I cross-examined the Defendant who was caught stealing a bottle of Heather Glen whisky from a supermarket. He was obviously lying because it was warm summer day and he was wearing a long coat. He even placed the whisky in the inside pocket of his coat and his explanation for not paying for the whisky was because he forgot that he had it inside his coat. Liarrrrr. Anyway, it's heavy isnt it? And you probably could have felt it rubbing against your skin, isnt it? haha. Sigh i'm so happy that i studied law. This is sthg that I will never ever regret in my life!
After i finished questioning, my tutor said - "I thought that your delivery was very, VERY good!" OMG! I was so happy! He then said "You were in control of your witness and very firm in an appropriate way". "Very well prepared, well structured etc." And the best part, "Hui, you should be very impressed with yourself today"
After he said that, i lapsed into a coma of joy.
haha..you know why?? Because since i started this course - no one ever said that to me. I was never complimented that way. (And i accept that coz I dont think Im anywhere near that level). I only hear it being said to my other kwai lo classmates who were really good. And this time ... oh God! thank you so much. Thank you that Im improving.
It's true when GG said : "Slowly, slowly catchy monkey"
I also received my conferencing practice assessment (practise only, so means it's not counted): I am soooo pleased with my results. Seriously I did sooooo badly for my previous conferencing exercises.. So bad that I know I cant do any worst than that. Remember when I said the previous time that I wanted to cry on the spot? Yeah coz it was that bad. The first time i did conferencing was the most hilarious one (although that time i didnt think it was funny - it was really upsetting). My client said that he felt that I was against him! hehe.
I did very well for my conferencing.. hehe so happy!! I actually got VC for introduction - okie i know it sounds like 'cheh. Just intoduction - who cannot do?" To be honest, I couldn'd execute my introduction with my client very well coz I was always so tense and so rigid. Seriously. Every time my tutor would tell me to relax. Now, it just comes naturally...I really thank God...Improvement a lil by lil is what I seek to achieve :)
This course really taught me a lot. With all the live skills that I have now and will continue to possess by the end of the course and throughout my life, I believe that I can perform the best to my abilities for my client. I may not be very smart and quick like others, but if you are my client, or my boss - i promise you that I will work hard and achieve desirable results for you. That, you can hold me to my word. This is because I never believe in doing things half-heartedly or "cin-cai-ly".

About Me

- Hui Ann
- We do not remember days; we remember moments. I was once told by a friend that we should do the following: To laugh often and much; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; and know that great things can only come with hardship because everything happens for a reason.
