PostHeaderIcon Prague Day #1

Prague - the Golden City and capital of the Czech Republic

I haven't posted pictures from my last trip to Prague. And so, tonight i told myself i will do it.

It's now or never. ^^

At Birmingham International Airport

Gillian & Lay Ming

My pancetta with salami. YUM!

I love this advertisement!

I think it's very creative because it promotes Budweiser to the very core.

We reached Prague after 2 hours of flight. At the train station, I was totally freaked out at how steep the escalator was.

Not only that, it took about 30 seconds to reach to the top! It was sooo long! I was thinking " are we ever going to reach the top??" Halfway i couldn't stand it and just sat down. Janet who was in front of me kept kacau-ing me and asking me to look up and down. She's the oldest among us and she still acts like that. hehe. But i love her! She's so cute and funny - another drama queen in my life!

Prague's Bank Money
Just so that you can have an idea of how their money looks like.

I always think it's very interesting to see how each country has their own unique and artistic design of what best symbolizes and represents their country.

As for Malaysia, we take pride in our national flower: the bunga raya, our Malay heritage, respect for the ruler, the advancement of technology in transportation where as it stands today, we have ships, LRT and our very own MAS airlines.

Malaysia Boleh!

The official currency for Czech is Czech Crown (Koruna).

1 pound = 27 Koruna.

I round it up to 30 when buying goods to make calculations easier.

Prague's money notes are very intriguing if you look at the faces of the people, only PET SET looks like a normal human being. STO and DVE STE, the 100 and 200 Koruna faces looks rather like those from the medieval times. HEHE. Do u agree?

A warrior on the horse?

oooH i love their coins! Look at this 20 Koruna coin. I feel like im using some really old coin.

The back of the coin.

Rather weird. I guess they should have a story behind this coin. It's a lion with a very long tongue, or more like a tongue of a snake. I tried to google the people on the notes but to no avail.

I remember telling Kenneth when i was in Centre Point back in Msia that he must explain to me all the people on the bank notes of all currencies if he wants to continue dating me. hahaha. Im so mean. But i really want to know. Okie! This will be one of my 2009 New Year Resolutions: To know the identity of the people on the bank notes of all nations...okie not all.. but hopefully as many as i can. And why u might ask. In my opinion, it's because if they are imprinted onto their country's bank notes, they should be pretty significant :)

We stayed at Old Prague Hostel. A comfortable and lovely place to stay. I recommend it to anyone who goes to Prague and is looking for a budget place to live in.

POLICIE = Police in their language :P

The best part, Old Prague Hostel is located opposite the police station! So there's immediate rescue and protection if needed. hehe.

CUTE sign post
Like a cartoon drawing

This one's cuter - The father is wearing a hat and the daughter's hair is tied up in the coconut style.^^

When we reached Prague, it was so dark we had to leave the travelling for the next day. Since we were all starving, we decided to have dinner and try out different types of food that are sold in the Christmas Market.

Prague's Christmas Market - The lighting and all were simply beautiful!

Prague's christmas market is definitely equipped for the season. However i thought Birmingham's one was much better and bigger. I have too many pictures already! Hv to postpone the pictures on Birmingham;s Christmas Market.

So pretty right?? I love the architecture and design of the buildings here. Will elaborate more with pictures on the next post.

What we had:

#1 German Sausage
(with Mustard and Ketchup)

It was so.. extremely.. juicy and tasty!! Love it to the max!!

However, after having 3 sausages in the span of my 4 days at Prague, on the final day, I threw away half and spat out most of it as i ate because i could taste tiny bits of fats in my mouth! No kidding. It was so disgusting i felt so bad for feeding my body with those sausages.

Chicken Kebab, sorta. Looks good but actually doesnt taste that good.

#2 Sugar-coated bread made on the Roller

Not bad. However when we had it, it was quite cold :( Should have bought from another stall. Oh well. It tasted nice anyway :)

#3 Potato Cakes

Okay - this one was drenched with oil. I am not kidding. The guy poured oil over it like it was FOC. 0_0 I was shocked! But we placed our order already and since it's one of their local food, a delicacy (better be!) we decided to give it a try.

We pressed the oil out with tissue before we ate it. Hehe yeah ppl might say im health conscious but i think everyone should take care of their body because u only have one body- there's no spare if anything goes wrong and hence, i place much importance in my food taking. As you all know, I loveeee eating and I believe if u eat everything in moderation, then it should be okay :)

That's all for the first night :)

Good nite!
