Valentine's Day: A day when people are willing to spend $$$ and owners gift shops and food outlets also get lots of $$$.

Couples :) Shop owners :) = World Economy :D

This year, I'm glad i could spend V day with Kenneth. I remember in 2008, he was in Cardiff and i was left back in Msia :( *sniff sniff. So this 2009, i'm really happy ^^ & thankful we're no longer separated.

Anyway, i treated Kenneth for the trip to Bath by train. The tickets cost me a lot because we accidentally bought the wrong ticket again. With the amount i paid we could actually bring 4 more people with us! waa! I could fly and see my sister in Belfast already! Another painful lesson learnt. Next time must check the singles ticket properly!! They're way way much cheaper than the usual return ones if you purchase it in advance.

We boarded the 9am train and arrived at about 10.15am. When we reached Bath, we were very very hungry because we didn't have breakfast. As they say, no trip in Bath is complete without a visit to Sally Lunn's.

#1 Sally Lunn's

Sally Lunn's is the oldest house in Bath.
Built in 1680.
The restaurant's fame and goodwill lasted throughout 33 decades!
That's a reaaalllyy long time!!

You must be wondering, "Who is this Sally Lunn?"

She is a young French refugee, arrived in England over 300 years ago. She baked a rich, round and generous bread now known as Sally Lunn Bun. This Bun became a very popular delicacy in Georgian England as its special taste and lightness allowed it to be enjoyed with either sweet and savoury accompaniments.

Outside the restaurant.

Heart-shaped Sally Lunn's Buns.
They should serve this on Valentine's day lor!!

So cute! This couple is holding hands.
And they got the best seats! Next to the window.

Kenneth ordered the soup of the day.
Tomato soup with potatoes and carrots.
We added salt and pepper because it was rather lacking of taste.

However sharing it together made a whole lot of difference even if the soup wasnt that good.
I was very happy :)

Kenneth ordered a very long twirly sausage which was quite good but a tad salty.
After eating this he had to drink lots of water.

Mine was the most expensive meal on the menu.
I ordered lamb. :D

Since they take pride in their bread, most of their meals comes together with bread and with like sweet and savoury items like butter and jam and cheese. Those kinda stuff.

But i know i 'chiak beh pa' if i ordered that.

Hence, since Kenneth and I are big eaters, we ordered the whole meal which would hopefully satiate our appetite which is like a bottomless pit.

Us :)

However i would recommend others to try their sweet & savoury toasted bread next time. Kenneth & I wanted to try but it'll cost us a bomb if we orderd another dish. Plus, we were quite full after drinking the soup and eating our main meals.

Next, we went to visit Sally's kitchen where we can get to see the Roman and Medieval foundations of the house and the original kitchen with its faggot oven, Georgian range and aold baking utensils.

Kitchen with its utensils.

Hehe some cute kids in the Sally Lunn's picture booth.

haha this was so humorous! As this guy was playing the guitar while tapping the tambourine with his feet which was placed on the floor, this little boy took away his tambourine and started running around with it. Not only that, afterward he took some coins from the guy's guitar case! hehe everyone was laughing!

We were wondering, why doesn't the lil boy's mum do anything?
In the end, we realised it's because the 2 lil boys were his sons! hehe. so cute!

#2 Bath Abbey

We didn't go inside Bath Abbey. It's a cathedral. After visiting St Vitrus Cathedral in Prague which was really beautifully designed and also 2 others, we concluded that all cathedrals are the same so we decided to skip this.

#3 The Roman Baths

The square where Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths is located.

Outside the Roman Baths.

There were so many people queuing up to enter the Roman Baths!

I think it's because it's V day and also probably because it was a Saturday that people took the opportunity to travel to the romantic city of Bath.

It was built around the natural hot spring which rises at 46 degrees. No one then could explain why there were hot spring water and hence the people belived it's because the goddess Mediva (i think it's correct) abides there and so the Romans built a temple to worship her. They also belived that the water has healing power.

However, now with the knowledge of science we all know why there's hot spring and all.
And until now, it's still bubbling (not boiling but yeah.. still hot okie!)

It can be said that ignorance led the Romans to wrongful belief of religion.

Last time, the Romans used to dine here at this walkway.

There's a wishing well here.
And i see American dollar notes floating on top of the water!
Notes also they throw! So weird.

Beautiful? :)

A very cool vintage looking car.

At the front on top of the number plate, that's a sorta tuner thingy..I wonder what is it for?
Kenneth & I were laughing saying that you have to turn it to get it moving like those toy cars. hehe

Nice car!!
I dont really like the middle part that looks like car nostrils but i think this metallic blue colour is really really nice!

#4 Fashion Museum

The story of fashion over the past 400 years is brought alive at the Fashion Musuem, a world class collection of contemporary and historical dress.

My favourite!

It was designed by Bianca Mosca in 1949 and worn by ballerina Margot Fonteyn following a magical performance in The Sleeping Beauty at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

Undergarments.
"To conceal and reveal." ooOo

Bikinis.

Haha this made me laugh a lot! Now i know how the word bikini came about.

Then i got to try the corset and crinolines!

Big bloaty dress!
Worn during important functions, like an event held in the palace.

Funny looking Duke.

Gloves that are delicately designed & decorated.

#5 Parade Gardens

This garden won loads of awards during the past few years.

Probably because it's located along the very famous Pulteney Bridge.

Nice view of the Bridge.

Dont mess with us! hahahaah

Managed to capture sthg very nice.

Daddy or a grandfather taking picture of this lovely young child.

Pretty red flower.

#6 Pulteney Bridge
OoH i love the view of the bridge!
I heard it looks nicer at night but we couldn't see it because we supposed to depart from Bath at 5pm.

#7 The Real Italian Ice Cream!!

OMG! Thank God i didnt give in to Kenneth who asked me to eat at another ice cream stall located near Bath Abbey. I saw this ice cream shop while we passed it by in the morning and was adamant to try their ice cream ONLY!

Girls' instincts! What can i say?? We are right most of the times. hahaha

They painted their shop pink!

Makes me even more happy eating there.
hehe it really brightens up the whole atmosphere eating ice cream.
I feel like a kid again living in my own fantasy world.

We ordered Chocolate(My fav), Strawberry(Kenneth likes all these refreshing flavours) & Binottee(I think! I just wanted to try this)

WHAT CAN I SAY?

Cant say anything. Just eat it yum yUM YUM! SOOO good okie!!
Anyway who goes to Bath must must must eat this ice cream!

Creamy, soft, melts in your mouth, and i could even taste bits of chocolate if i bite my ice cream and not let it melt.

Looks like you dont have to go all the way to Italy to try their ice cream.
It's found here at Bath :)

An ice cream dustbin!!
Cute or not u tell me! hehehe
So creativeee!

Saw this other shop which was very very cute!

"Chocolate chunk for my hunk!"

haha all the visitors who passed by the shop were mouthing this statement out!
Hillarious i tell u :)

That's all. We were too tired to visit other places or even shop.

Met few cute doggies :)

I must have a Golden Retriever next time!!

By 6.50pm, we were back at Cardiff.

We were too tired to go out to have dinner.
So we ordered Indian take-away, our all time favourite!! :)

Mixed Briyani with loads and loads of juicy prawns, chicken and lamb!!

yum!

And Tandoori Chicken!

hehe. It was a great day! After we had dinner, Kenneth left and i slept really early coz i was so tired after the whole day.

Plus, im so glad i could get a day off from my hectic schedule.

Tomorrow, i will be interviewed for 2.5hours! I hope it will not be awkward.
Okie i must switch back to my British accent!
Or at least try. hehe.
