Man, experiencing the comfort of home once again can really distract me from being anywhere near the computer. And so today, let the revival of my blog begin with the exciting journey to the land of good food, Ipoh.

I go to Kampar and Ipoh every Chinese New Year and put on a few pounds every time i return back to KL. This post is about all the great food i had in Ipoh. I know you might be thinking, 'this Ann r, always talk about food one'. Aiyoh for those who dont enjoy food i feel so sorry for u lor. God made us eat 3 times a day for a purpose u see! hehe.

Beautiful scenery in Ipoh. The whole city is surrounded by mountains.

We made the first stop at one of the stalls by the roadside that sells pomelo. Before this, we bought 3 pomelos from an aged uncle who grows it from his own plantation. There's a saying that the best Pomelo are found in Ipoh. And according to my aunty, this stall sells organic pomelo. Organic things nowadays are a sure hit in the market as people are getting more n more health conscious. I think it's a good thing to have a desire to stay healthy as you have only 1 body. Mind you, im one of those people who enjoy keeping themselves fit and healthy. :)

It was lunch time when we reached and so we decided to eat at this restaurant that serves the best curry mee in town. (or i dare say, Malaysia!) I am sure the penangites will challenge me on this statement! hehe. While waiting for our food to be served, I went to buy the best tasting siu pau and curry puff from this Aunty who has been selling this for years.

Siu pau and other pastries

Chicken Curry puff - ONLY RM1.20!!

Here's where we had the Best Curry Mee :D

Dry Curry Mee - the curry sauce is very
kao
Since i was never a big fan of curry mee, i opted for Har Mee instead. Fu-yoh! This was the bomb okie! I say it's the best har mee ive ever tasted. The soup tasted light and was a lil on the sweet side -truly wonderful. HAHA dont salivate now please.

Fat, juicy
sui kao. (Wan ton in soup)

My cousin in law, John with my beautiful cousin who is 6 and a half months pregnant, Felicia (Ah Hui che). Fyi, the mangoes were super duper sweet.

Not tasting the authentic Ipoh White Coffee when you set foot in Ipoh would be a serious crime to mankind. According to my aunty, this coffee shop makes the best white coffee! (This post has lots of self proclaimed "best"! hehe)

Very good.

Ah Hui che has one of the most coveted pregnancy. She has a superb appetite okie. Her baby isnt picky at all. See, he loves to drink coffee also :P Im so happy 4 her! :D

I havent tasted a better roti bakar than the one served at Sun Yuan Foong coffee shop.
Best!

We also tried the Jelapang Rojak

As for this one, i can honestly say that i have tasted better ones. My favorite chinese rojak is the one sold at Kampung Cempaka. Indian rojak- DU. hehe.
We went back to my aunty's house to give our stomach a rest. This is my cutest niece ever, baby Sara! :) Im your Yee Yee. Aiyo, feel so old adi. hehe.

Sara with her mum who is my gorgeous cousin, Szu Ann che!

Szu Ann che took me shopping at this boutique called E fashion. I was soooo happy cause i bought 5 things for RM 250. 2 pants, 2 tops and a Fendi inspired dress! Cheh-wah i have Fendi taste okie! hehehe. The next day, i went back to the shop with my mum and i bought another long top for RM 50. All at discounted price cause my cousin is related to the owner. I havent been shopping much since i was back from the UK n so my dad was very happy that i finally bought so many things for myself :) My mum also bought the same 2 skinny jeans that's a size bigger. Everywhere i go people keep thinking she is my eldest sister. I will dread the day when they tell me that she is my younger sister. I will faint!! Thank God my mum is a very sweet and decent mum. She does not wear skimpy or revealing outfit. I think mums should be sweet, decent and presentable lor :) Must dress their age and set a good example for their children.

We stayed at my cousin's huge bungalow house. So comfy!!! I really wanna go back there again.

Found this at my cousin's hubby's bed side. Aww my cousin is so sweet rite?

"Please give me the bottle"

"Thank you kor kor!"

Ann ann yee yee with baby Sara.
I look so tan compared to her :,( It must be all the swimming sessions at my aunty's place, Adeline kor kor. hehe but i really enjoy swimming!

Me: Sara blow!
Sara: Bruuuuu *lips pouting

Check out her signature pose (legs)
"Should i cross my right leg......

...or left??" :)

Happy family? :P

Baby Sara is the first baby i know that LOVES to read books rather than play with her toys. Honestly, i think she inherited the intelligent genes from my cousin by the bulk!!
Sa lai from my cousin's garden.

The next day, we had Pork Noodle for breakfast. I speak directly from the heart. Living on this planet earth for over 21 years, i have not tasted such a fantastic bowl of pork noodle. At the price of RM5, they serve you a generous portion of pork meat with such fine, silky
hor fun. This one, BEST lah! My mum is so cute. She says before i return to UK she will drive me to Ipoh to eat all this famous Ipoh delicacies once again. This trip, my parents kept mentioning how deprived my sister is from all the good Malaysian food. Even my aunty n uncle feel so sorry for her. haha. so funny i tell u. Nvm lah che. Few months and u will be back again.

Fried wan ton :)
After that we went to Kampar to eat a lil bit more and to visit my cousins. Im so happy to have such nice cousins around to talk too. They're like your friends forever. hehe.

We had to let Kenneth try Kampar's famous Char Kuay Teow. He had so many orders that we had to wait 1 hour for our food! I was getting restless already since the sun was up and it was getting quite hot and stuffy.

Anyhow it was worth the wait! :) RM 2.50 only. Believe it or not.

With my bloved parents! :P

My cousin, ah ping and her mum made this delicious bowl of tong sui. LOL: Lots of Love!. Glutinous rice ball with red bean fillings, carefully drenched one by one into soya bean . It was so good i had 12 of the rice balls and 2 bowls of their home made tong sui. My mum almost fainted! haha.

My aunty planted pineapple outside her house. COOL eh? I never knew that pineapple grows from the ground or in this case, from a flower pot.
As for dinner sessions, we were too hungry that we just gulped it all down. hehe. Super good and cheap somemore. That's it for now. Fyi i put on almost 5-6kgs since i came back from UK. I weighed myself yesterday n i found out i lost 2kgs adi! hehe. Im sick of western food. I super love Chinese, Japanese or Malaysian food like roti canai. The best roti canai i have ever tasted can be found at Jaipur in TTDI, thanks to Adeline kor kor who introduced it to me.
Adios! Going for foot reflexology now:)
