FRU
Since last Monday, I'd been really indecisive as to whether I should go for the training day organised by the Free Representation Unit (FRU) in BPP Law school, London. The reason being that im gonna travel soon and I dont really wanna tire myself out as I've just recovered from the flu.
They have 3 training days in a year - Oct, Jan and July. I've always wanted to go for it because once I'm eligible to hold myself out as a volunteer for FRU, I will be able to take on my OWN case, but on pro bono though which I don't really mind. So I went for the training on Saturday, took the 530am train to London. You wont believe how tired I was as I had to wake up at 4am that day - 4 hours of sleep, no joke man! And guess what, I called for taxi at 5am and he came at 456am and left at 5am. Coz I came out ngam ngam at 5am and he was not there!! That's terrible, coz the time on my iPhone is adjusted to the ones in the rail station and he should have waited for 4 mins! Just to cut the long story short, thank God I could get another taxi and managed to reach the station in time.
Anyway, I met 3 wonderful girls during the training on Social Security. To take on a case like that can be quite nebulous because there's a lot of legislation involved, and some parts are not explained in detail. Anyway, I took a 2-hour test on Social Security yesterday and hopefully that's a pass. Just to share, as I was sitting for the test, I feel so happy because I'm a barrister and I really enjoy doing what I'm doing even though the test was on a completely foreign topic that we have not been taught during the training day. I know NIL about social security and basically we were tested on our ability to interpret legislations.
On a side note, it's horrible when a guy doesn't hold the door. (Happened in BPP london law school. The door was slammed in my face) Chivalry cannot and should not be dead! I'm really not used to it seeing how gentlemanly the guys are in Cardiff. But I met 2 gentlemen in Cheltenham, one opened the door of the train and made sure that I stepped out safely - aww! So sweet. And the other gentleman let me get into the first taxi.
Okie today's Monday. Have been sleeping like a baby since I came over here. ;) Chelm's posh! I really like this place. Mm 11:42am already! Gotta get going.

About Me

- Hui Ann
- We do not remember days; we remember moments. I was once told by a friend that we should do the following: To laugh often and much; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; and know that great things can only come with hardship because everything happens for a reason.
